A Rainy Night At The Lake

[Ambrose]

It was terribly late when Silver had wandered down from the school to the lake. The Moon was long past it's zenith and thick clouds shrouded the stars. A cool breeze kissed his skin as he faced the northern shore. He could smell rain ahead and smiled softly to himself. He always loved the rain because it felt as if it could cleanse his mind and soul of their pained worries. Silver slowly made his way down to the rocky shore and took a seat on top of a boulder. He looked up and closed his eyes, his mind going blank.

[Athemise]

I found Silver at the lake. I smiled that he was ok."Hey," I said weakly and nervous. "I'm back." I was finally back from my trip from Amets. "My mom said you left back home."

[Ambrose]

Silver tensed slightly but kept his voice level as he said formally, "Good evening princess." His voice was flat and emotionless as his pale eyes stared at her. His gaze was almost an accusation. "It is rather late. Surely royalty shouldn't be out and about at this hour." The necklace around his neck suddenly felt very heavy and uncomfortable so he took it off. "This belongs to you. It is of no use to me now."

[Athemise]

I took the necklace and started to cry. I was still wearing mine. "I should have stayed." I said nothing more Just tears.

[Ambrose]

"We both knew what decision you were going to make Athemise. "Silver said softly and allowed a small stream of smoke to escape his lips. "Give that to the general. I'm sure he'd appreciate the gift to symbolize your love and all that." Suddenly the rain didn't seem quite so pleasant with her standing there. He refused the urge to go down and comfort her, instead running his fingers through his now reddish brown hair and allowing a small blue flame to dance across his fingertips. "I'm sure you'll have a happy marriage and finally reach your dream of becoming queen."

[Athemise]

I wiped my tears and walked towards him. "This necklace will always be yours."I said softly. I started to cry. "This is the end huh?"

[Ambrose]

"I don't want it!" He said sharply and whirled around to face her. "And why are YOU crying anyways? At least you'll have someone to run back to who loves you! You need to stay away from me princess. Don't you realize what you're doing to me?" His pale eyes glared furiously through the dark rain and blue fire erupted around him. "I don't want to be around you anymore okay? It hurt enough to let you go and I don't need you crying your damn eyes out and trying to make me the bad guy!" He'd finally snapped and his voice was overflowing with venom and malice. "So why don't you go crawl back to your damn fiance and leave me in peace for once!"

[Athemise]

"Fine," I yelled at him and threw the necklace at him even when he didn't want it, "I'll stay away!"

[Ambrose]

He moved out of the way and let the necklace fly by. It landed with a splash into the lake shallows. He bristled and took a step towards her agressively. "Did you come here to fight princess?" He snarled.

[Athemise]

"No, you wouldn't hurt me !" I raised my voice seeing the necklace splash in the lake.

[Ambrose]

He turned away and fell into chilly silence while he collected himself. The flames died down and he said, "I can't guarantee that Athey. I can't guarantee anything anymore...." He slid down the boulder and landed on his feet lightly. He crouched down and picked up the necklace quickly drying it off. "I can't trust any of you. Not anymore. Not after what he said." Silver muttered to himself and looked down at the cut on his leg. He had apparently cut it on the rock. The wound sizzle and popped as fire ran over it to thirsty drink up the blood. "And so Ambrose must return before the third moon, just as the geezer said."

[Athemise]

"Like who said?" I asked him confused about what he said.

[Ambrose]

"No matter, you'll know eventually." He said and started walking down the shore. "Later Athemise, so glad we had this little chat." He called back twirling the necklace as fire danced in his wake. He needed to clear his head. "If we happen to meet someplace else don't call me Silver anywhere else but at this school or you'll really fuck me over. Call me Ambrose Peterson."

[Athemise]

"Fine!" I yelled walking away

[Ambrose]

"Later Athey." He smirked and pocketed the necklace. As soon as he was out of her site though he clenched his fist and shot a large fire ball roaring into the sky above. It sizzled in the rain and faded after a bit. He watched it with a pained expression.

[Kingsley Jorkins]

(Obviously a different day)
Kingsley sat on a boulder watching the surface of the lake, using his wings to shield himself from the rain. It was cold out but he didn't feel it. His bright eyes glowed softly in the dark as he looked up at the castle. The book had confirmed the portal's whereabouts, but WHERE was it located exactly? He sighed and folded his wings, allowing the rain to drench him in a useless hope to clarify his thoughts. He had come so close this time and he would be damned if he didn't find it.

[Athemise]

I walked down the halls outside of the school thinking to myself about all that has happened, "Did I even do the right things?" I asked myself. I then saw the rain and stuck my hand out to feel the rain.

[Kingsley Jorkins]

Kingsley raised his right hand and drew a line of fire in the air. "Chandler found the book in the library, in a case way in back." He said as he traced over the school with fire. "I know the portal is somewhere in that castle, but where?" He stared hard at the school, his brow creased in concentration. After a minute he let out a sigh and flopped onto his back, the fire disappearing.

[Athemise]

I looked up and thought I saw something and rubbed my eyes again to see if I saw something but so far nothing, "I really must be dreaming." I said to myself and stepped foot into the rain. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the rain pouring down on me for a brief moment. I saw the woods and continued to walk there.

[Kingsley Jorkins]

Chandler strode out of the forest, yanking off a striped sweater that was uncomfortably small. "Kingsley, don't you go falling asleep in enemy territory." He growled as he pulled the man up roughly by the arm. "Chandler, I can't figure out where that portal is." Kingsley said distracted as he sat up. "I'll find it in time." Chandler said confidently. "I checked half of the classrooms, the kitchens and the coliseum today. I'll check the lower levels tomorrow or the day after. And if it's not here, well, we'll burn it and move on. We already have 3 pieces. The fourth we know is in that portal, which IS somewhere here." Kingsley nodded slowly and the rain around both of them evaporated before it touched their skin. "I want you to plant your spies in every room of the castle. I want to know EVERYTHING they know." Kingsley said with a renewed glint in his eyes, the words of his commander putting new heart into him.

[Athemise]

I kept walking and heard some voices and hid behind a tree to not get close. "I wonder what is going on?" I peeked over and kept quiet.

[Kingsley Jorkins]

"As you wish, sire." Chandler grinned. "And what of Sybil?" Kingsley looked sideways at the man next to him. Chandler was tall, about 6'5'', and well built. His skin was pale and his midnight hair draped down to his stomach. His looked deceptively young, about the age of a 24 year old but in reality he was thousands of years old. His race was long lived but almost extinct. "I have no use for her.Get rid of her," Kingsley. Sybil had proved to be to risky to let live. She had a nasty history of treachery and betrayal.

[Athemise]

"Sybil?" I whispered to myself. "What is really going on?" I kept watching keeping quiet.

[Kingsley Jorkins]

The two stood up and without another word went their separate ways. Kingsley summoned his portal and disappeared while Chandler went back towards the school. He was out of site from Athemise and seemed to disappear into thin air.

[Athemise]

I looked back again and saw them gone. "What the-" I decided to walk back to the school. "Now I gotta find out what is going on?" I told myself.
