Within an hour we reached the grasslands. Vanenkin turned back saying that he did not like to leave his den for long, lest another soul takes it. The sky was dark and the ponds that dotted the land murky. Here and there skeletal creatures wandered aimlessly on the prowl. It was not as pleasant a place as I had expected.

Vanenkin walked away without glancing back. "When she awakens, tell her that next time she better bring something better than just one rabbit." He grumbled before disappearing.

I continue to walk and watched the undead souls wander aimlessly. just one simple push will knock them down and they get back up to walk around aimlessly. 'Ceres is soundly asleep, we are almost there...just a few more steps ahead' I thought

Whenever the dead would cross paths they would clash until one was knocked down and the other able to continue it's path. Not far ahead stood a lone hill with one big tree adorning it's crest. The tree looked to be a huge dead elm with glowing white bark. The number of souls was greater around that area. They seemed to be attracted to it.

I slowly ascended and grabbed a hilt stuck to the ground. I used it to pushed them aside from us. There are small steps formed by branches like steps upward to the trunk of the tree. Undead were following us like zombies going after their so called brains. I grabbed Ceres and held her with one arm as I climbed the tree.

I was jerked awake by the sudden movement as I was grabbed from his shoulders. I snapped awake as I noticed the swarm of dead following close behind. None of them even tried to climb the tree in fact they kept a three foot radius from it. "What's happening? Where's Vanenkin?" I asked confused looking around.

"Vanenkin decided to...retire back to his den...we are climbing this tree...by we I mean me carrying you as I climb up the...tree...as the undead want to harm us....mostly you since your human still" I paused "...how are you Ceres?"

"Oh, I'm sorry! I'll get off right away." I said sliding off his back and dropping down, grabbing a branch to stop my fall a few feet from the ground. I began to climb carefully upwards to catch up. "I'm doing better that I'm awake now." I replied clinging to a branch tightly. "Don't care for my dreams."

"Well then....let's get to the top" my spewed my skeletal wings and claws came from my back to help me climb faster. Each grab was like a little hop. A monster climbing up the tree. I look down at Ceres "hello....down there..."

"And what's your plan for when we reach the top?" I asked glancing down again. "They're sort of everywhere.... Vanenkin didn't mention this about the grasslands." I finally reached the top and hung on tightly.

"I like it here besides the undead trying to kill me I mean." I chuckled. "Still so much to explore. This is only my fourth time here." I glanced down at the dead and saw that they still did not step within three feet of the tree. "Besides, I'm not the biggest fan of Tempo Regime."

"Oh?" I placed my hand on my chin "why is...that?" I leaned back with a branch almost to its breaking point.

"Eh, dunno. Just don't like the feeling of the place. Something bad is always going on down there. I'd rather be home or out exploring. Although I will admit that I'm finally enjoying one of my classes." I said eyeing the branch. "Might want to not lean back so much. That branch looks like it'll break any second."

I look at the branch "so it is.....nothing much will happnen....I can not feel the pain inflicted....looks like you're adapting to this world quite well....you might even have your own tombstone named...after you" I laughed making the branch fall. I fell with it but landed on an undead.

"What do you mean by that?" I called down curiously. I jumped down too and landed on Militis's back before sliding off and high tailing it out. I pushed my way through the crowd of the dead until I made my way to the edge of the grasslands leaving the dead far behind. I flopped down panting heavily and trying to catch my breath. "Good idea Militis." I said while pulling out bone splinters from my arms.

I crossed my arms "In the living you have dragons who are alive.....once they suffer a fate they are...sent here....however depending how strong they are they will have a tombstone here...in this world to keep wandering wherever they wish. Sure they...are dead but as you can you tell Vanenkin still roams...only the strongest are able to keep going. These zombies you see here are strong...but they lost...their insanity."

"Will I lose my sanity do you think?" I asked grimly. "I don't think I'd enjoy this place much at all if I were stuck to wander aimlessly in a field like them..." I watched the dead slowly moving away from the far off tree and sighed. "I wouldn't like that at all."

I laughed "if you do...I can tweak it...I still run this place until someone else...comes." I patted her shoulder "that is lesson one....if you are strong in the living you'll roam freely in the...dead world. You seem to be fading...drink some more of that liquid"

I took another sip from the red liquid and felt a chill run down my spine. "Then I'll have to work on that." I growled decisively. "There's no way in hell I'm going to let myself end up like them."
